Petra Oils
ALOES / LIGNALOES - DISCIPLINE / OBEDIENCE / MATURITY
The first significant fact about the Lignaloe tree is it must be at least 30 years in order to be used. It will not produce oil until this age in its maturity. This speaks unmistakably of Yeshua coming to His maturity at age 30 in order to be used in His earthly ministry. Secondly, only lacerating or 'wounding' the trunk of the Lignaloes tree stimulates the oil production. This lacerating or 'wounding' illustrates His wounding and death.
Yeshua is set forth as our pattern and we must understand that in order for Him to come to His place of maturity, "He learned obedience through the things He suffered" (Hebrews 5:8). Our portion in this anointing is to lay down our lives submitting to the discipline and training of the Father. In this posture He brings us to maturity enabling us to bear fruit that will endure.
CASSIA - HUMILITY
Cassia comes from the word, qatsa', meaning to strip off, to stoop, to bow the body or to bow the head in submission or courteous yielding to the opinion, wishes or judgment of another. In preparation for use, the bark of the cassia shrub is first stripped off and then it is ground into a very fine powder. Here we have a prophetic picture of Yeshua's willingness to be stripped of His deity and yielding Himself to be 'ground down' to the point of death.
Our portion in this anointing is to come to Him in humility, recognizing our need to be stripped of all that is not of Him. As we submit to this stripping of our flesh, we in turn are made into His likeness.
CALAMUS - REDEMPTION
Calamus comes from the word, qanah, meaning to create, purchase, procure, own recover and redeem. An interesting note is in biblical days calamus was extremely rare and very costly. With these two thoughts in mind, we can easily see the prophetic significance of the calamus brought forth. It represents the price that Yeshua paid for our redemption. "For we have not been redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold but with precious blood, the blood of Christ".
Yeshua was the only one who could pay the full price for our redemption. Our own inability to accomplish this is evident but He did leave us His example to follow. His commandment and our portion in this anointing is found in John 15:12 & 13, "This is My commandment that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends."
CEDAR - INTIMACY / STRENGTH
We know from the scriptures that cedar is known for its strength. David's home, Solomon's palace, and the Temple were all constructed with cedar. We also find cedar used over the couch, or the bed, of the lovers in the Song of Songs. This is where intimacy is typified.
Our portion in this anointing is found in the secret place with our Lord, where we come face to face with our Heavenly Bridegroom. With an all consuming love He begins to touch us in the deepest levels of our being. In exchange for our sin and weaknesses He gives us His strength, turning our failures into His glory. He brings forth His righteousness through restored vessels, so that He alone is glorified.
CINNAMON - HOLINESS
Cinnamon comes from the word, qunnamown, meaning to be erect or upright. In biblical days cinnamon was considered as precious and valuable as gold.
As we view His life, Yeshua lived a life of perfect holiness before the Father. He walked upright and blameless in all He did. This was precious and valuable not only to the Father but also to us as His bride. It is because of His holiness our relationship has been restored with the Father and through His holiness, we are made holy.
Cypress – Deliverance
Cypress (or gopher wood) was used to construct Noah’s ark. This ark was Gods vehicle used to transport man from a wicked, unrighteous and dying habitation to an unblemished world filled with new life. Through salvation, Yeshua is The Ark of Gods deliverance translating us to His kingdom filled with life, light and peace.
FRANKINCENSE - PURITY / INTERCESSION
Frankincense comes from the word, laban, meaning to make or become white. In the Tabernacle of Moses, we find frankincense in the meat offering, in the incense burned on the golden altar and also sprinkled upon the showbread. In each of these places it is the purity of Yeshua and His intercession that becomes the clear prophetic picture.
Our portion in this anointing is found at the table of showbread. The bread, typifying the body of Christ was sprinkled with frankincense and was considered man's portion. This is symbolic of communion. As we partake of the sacrifice of the broken body of Yeshua, it is the purity represented by the frankincense that is to become part of us.
GALBANUM - ENDURANCE / INTERCESSION
Galbanum comes from the word, cheleb, meaning to be fat, the richest or choice part or the finest. Here is the suggestion (as seen in the fat of the sacrifices) of the holy energy, which Yeshua was devoted to the Father and His purposes. Yeshua said, “My food is to do the will of Him that sent Me”. John 4:34 Galbanum was also one of the four ingredients in the incense from the golden altar. It added strength and persistence to the other ingredients.
Our portion in this anointing is in our priesthood before God. As the Levitical priests were commanded to burn incense daily before the Lord, we too must burn our 'spiritual galbanum' daily on our altars of intercession. Daily we must lay our head upon His breast to hear the passion of His heart and enter into the labor of His love.
HYSSOP - APPLICATION OF THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB
Hyssop is first mentioned in the scriptures in Exodus 12:22. On the night of the first Passover, it was used to apply the blood of the lamb to the doorposts and lintels. It was also used by the priests to sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice in the Tabernacle of Moses. King David was familiar with the frequent use of hyssop in the ceremonial law and viewed it as a means by which the virtue of the sacrificial animal was transferred to the sinner. (Ps 51:7)
MYRRH - CRUCIFIED LIFE
Myrrh comes from the word, marar, meaning to be grieved, make bitter, trickle, or to drop (as in distillation). Myrrh is fragrant and sweet to the smell, but very bitter to the taste. Here we have before us, a prophetic picture of the cross, and the death of Christ. In the sweetest sacrifice ever made for mankind, Yeshua spread forth His arms and was nailed to the cross. He took the bitter cup and drank to its dregs the vileness of all our sins.
Our portion in this anointing is in uniting with Christ in His cross. If our true desire is to be like Yeshua, we must open wide and allow the Holy Spirit to search us, showing us areas in our lives that need crucifixion. This is a grievous and bitter process at times, but with it comes the promise of the ages-Christ in us, the hope of glory!!
MYRTLE – DIVINE COVERING / ADORNING FLOWER OF THE BRIDE
In ancient days myrtle was the traditional adorning flower of the bride. It was also used as one of the covering branches for the succoth’s during the Feast of Tabernacles. Prophetically myrtle represents Yeshua as our divine covering and shield. For His bride, it represents the exceedingly great and precious promises we have been adorned with by our Bridegroom King.
ONYCHA - GODLY AUTHORITY
Onycha comes from the word, shecheleth, meaning to peel off by concussion of sound. Onycha's root word shachal means to roar as a lion. Collectively, this brings forth a prophetic picture of the voice of God. Revelation 1:15 describes His voice as “the sound of many waters”. Joel 3:16 says, “And the Lord roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble. But the Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel”.
Our portion in the Onycha is to speak forth the anointed word of the Lord with true authority. This comes through a life laid down; leaning our listening ear against the breast of our Beloved. Out of this place of oneness comes power to release those in bondage, to set the captives free and to speak words of life and not of death.
SANDALWOOD - WORSHIP
In the time of David sandalwood was used to make instruments of worship such as the harps and lyres. Plainly we can see these are instruments of worship in the natural but spiritually speaking, we have been called to be 'living instruments'. Paul writing to the Romans states, "I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is yourspiritual service of worship". Solomon used sandal wood to construct the steps leading up to the Temple. Again, this shows our approach to God which is always through worship.
Our portion in the anointing of the Sandalwood is to become living and holy instruments of worship learning to abide in His presence; making worship a lifestyle and not simply an action.
SPIKENARD - EXTRAVAGANT WORSHIP
Spikenard is, by far, one of the most lovely and powerful symbols of worship. In Mark 14:3, Mary came to anoint Yeshua. She came boldly, humbly, and without fear of man to worship her Lord. Mary cast aside the indignant remarks being made about her and set her heart and affection on the Lover of her soul. She anointed Yeshua with the costliest and most valuable thing she possessed. Mary poured out all she had without reservation and as she abandoned herself to the Lord, the house was filled with the fragrance of her worship.
Our portion in this anointing is for a lifestyle of EXTRAVAGANT worship poured out upon our Beloved.
EXODUS 30 OIL (HOLY ANOINTING OIL) - CONSECRATION
In Exodus 30:23 & 24 we find the mixture for the Holy Anointing Oil used to consecrate the Tabernacle of Moses and its contents. Aaron and his sons were also anointed with this oil and consecrated unto the Lord to serve as priests before Him. In verses 31-33 God gives very specific instructions about its ingredients, with a solemn command about its use ending with these words, "Whoever shall mix any like it, or whoever puts any of it on a layman, shall be cut off from his people". After such a solemn warning are we permitted to use this oil today?
This question can be answered first by remembering we have passed from the Old Covenant to the New and we are no longer under law, but grace. Second, we must look to Yeshua as the "Pattern Son". Yeshua fulfilled all the requirements of the law and has become our High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. We, His body, have been made ministers and priests of the New Covenant being called a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a people for God's own possession. As Aaron and his sons were types of what was to come, we as the fulfillment of the type in Christ can most certainly be anointed with his holy oil.
NOTE: THIS OIL IS HOLY TO THE LORD AND SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR CONSECRATION. THIS MEANS THE SETTING APART OF SOMEONE OR SOMETHING UNTO GOD FOR HIS USE AND PURPOSE.
